SGH Strategic Investment Partners “SGH” was founded in 2016 as a private, single family office in Austin, Texas. SGH is an active investor focusing on investing in lower middle market companies.
Hill Country Hospitality Management, a portfolio company managed by SGH, focuses on assets and services in the hospitality industry.

Samir "Sam" G. Hanna, RPLS, Managing Principal

Sam Hanna, founder and Managing Principal of SGH Strategic Investment Partners, LLC (SGH), has over 40 years’ experience in operational and administrative management in the professional services business arena. He has led or participated in more than $200 million of transactional value and advised on the direct investment of more than $180 million of debt and equity capital.

Prior to establishing SGH in 2016, Sam led the way in establishing and/or nurturing the growth of many professional services organizations. In 1977, Sam joined Espey, Huston & Associates (EHA) and started the establishment and growth of civil engineering and land surveying divisions in that firm. In 1987 he established Survey Resources, Inc. as a wholly-owned land surveying subsidiary of EHA and diversified the company into both expanded private sector markets and into new public sector markets. In 1994, he founded Surveying and Mapping, LLC (SAM, LLC, formerly known as SAM, Inc.) and currently serves as Founding Chairman for that firm. Under his direction SAM, LLC grew to be the leading surveying and mapping company in the nation, currently employing over 1,000 employees. Sam believes that investing in people is key to a company’s success. While in December of 2016 he announced his retirement from the daily management of SAM, LLC, Sam retains the position of Founding Chairman and continues to serve as an advisor to the management team. Additionally, Sam has served on the Board of Directors for SRI, EHA and Capital IDEA.

In 1968, Sam received his B.S. in Engineering, Major in Land Surveying, from Cairo Polytechnic Institute in Cairo, Egypt. He arrived in the United States as an immigrant in 1970 and became licensed as a Registered Professional Land Surveyor in Texas in 1975. He and his wife reside in Austin and have five children and eleven grandchildren.

Michael Hatcher, Principal

Michael Hatcher is a Principal of SGH Strategic Investment Partners, LLC. Mike has over 42 years of experience in the AEC (Architectural Engineering Collaborative) industry including a broad range of responsibilities, covering business operations management, project management and business development. Prior to joining SGH Management, Mike joined SAM, LLC at its founding in 1994 and was responsible for advising and supporting the COO, participated in leading the Transportation Market vertical for the company, and was part of the executive management team that established operational plans, policies and transportation market growth strategies.

Mike studied bioengineering at Texas A&M University and is a Registered Professional Land Surveyor in Texas. He is a member in industry associations such as the Texas Society of Professional Surveyors, National Society of Professional Surveyors and International Right-of-Way Association.

Mike has strived throughout his career to mentor on how to deliver best-in-industry services to clients. He is involved with local, state and national community programs through his volunteer efforts with the TxDOT Adopt-a-Highway program, support for local animal shelters and Humane Societies and volunteer and financial support for national organizations that are training the future political leaders of our country. He and his wife reside in the Austin area.

Kyle Goldman,
Vice President

Kyle W. Goldman is Vice President at SGH Strategic Investment Partners, LLC. He has more than 10 years of experience managing public and private investments for institutional and family office investors. Prior to joining SGH Management, Kyle was Vice President of Acquisitions and Investor Relations at CFH Investment Partners, a private equity real estate firm focused on multifamily investments. He previously developed systematic asset allocation strategies for family offices in Austin and The Woodlands in addition to trading energy derivatives for a large Commodity Trading Advisor in Houston. After graduating from Texas A&M University, Kyle served in the United States Navy with distinction as a Surface Warfare Officer in Japan and the United States. He holds an MBA from the University of Houston. Kyle enjoys competitive trail running and spending time with his wife and two daughters in Austin.
Troy Pinkston Chief Financial Officer Read Bio

Troy Pinkston,
Chief Financial Officer

Troy Pinkston is the Chief Financial Officer at SGH Strategic Investment Partners, LLC. He has over 25 years of experience in finance and accounting with both public and privately held companies. Prior to joining SGH Management, Troy was the Vice President of Finance with Travis Medical Co, LLC, which was acquired by National Seating and Mobility. Troy is a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin and began his career with 10 years in public accounting, first with Deloitte and then later with KPMG. Troy has a wide variety of experience, ranging from mergers and acquisitions, oil and gas, technology start- ups, network infrastructure equipment sales and services, and medical supply sales. Troy is a CPA, marathon runner, college sports fan, former mountain biker and enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters in Austin.
